CLASSROOM GUIDANCE
Pre-K Curriculum
Our counseling Pre-K curriculum is aligned with the scope of services for Voluntary Pre-K for TN. Programs. The Pre-K counseling curriculum will introduce necessary skills that will promote social (sharing, taking turns), emotional (feelings) and developmental (manners) learning skills.
August: Learning social skills
September: Me and My safe and caring school (manners, bullying prevention & listening skills)
October: Home and community safety rules (fire safety, stranger safety, and citizenship)
November: Discovering our feelings and how to express them appropriately (Anger, sadness, jealousy, etc.)
December: Friendship, getting along with others by sharing, taking turns and caring
January: Respect yourself and others through honesty, responsibility and fairness
February: Being healthy (dental health, exercising, & body awareness)
March: Power to choose (good decision making skills)
April: Exploring Careers
May: Review safety rules for the summer
K- 5th Grade Curriculum
Classroom guidance is an integral part of the School Counseling program. It focuses on topics dealing with personal/social, career, and academic matters. Lessons are designed to encourage positive core values and traits including, but not limited to, the 6 pillars of character such as fairness, responsibility, citizenship, trustworthiness, caring, and respect.
August: Social skills and safety (school and home)
September: Getting along with others (bullying prevention, friendship & respect)
October: Home and community safety (fire safety, internet safety, drug prevention & citizenship)
November: Power to choose (Too Good for Drug lessons emphasizing honesty, caring and decision making skills)
December: Power to choose (Too Good for Drug lessons)
January: K-2 Decision making skills/3-5 organization, goal setting, study and test taking skills
February: Being healthy (dental health, exercising, eating healthy & body awareness)
March: Power to choose (Too Good for Violence lessons emphasizing responsibility, fairness & respect)
April: Power to choose (Too Good for Violence lessons)
May: Exploring Careers
